New WatchBot feature. It is now possible to publish WatchBot games on external websites. So, for example, you can show the game you played on your blog.

Here is the example (one of my TeamLeague) games:

For detailed instructions of how to embed the game and customize the way it is displayed check this article.

Hello and thanks for this awsome feature!! Can I post positions and not whole games on a blog?

It wouldn't be very difficult to implement, but there are quite a few tools which are able to generate chess diagrams, so I didn't feel a need to implement one more.

Do you mean posting a specific position in watchbot-saved game, or general purpose chess diagram generator?

Actually you might help me both on the posting with other free tools that generate chess diagrams and also to post a watchbot saved game. Sincerely A. Weiler

Some time ago I wrote the article about chess webmaster tools. Maybe one of those will be of some use?

Thanks for WatchBot! I've tried embedding a match into my page... but as i progress through the game, it gradually scrolls off the top of the screen!

I will take a look (but it may take a few days).

Hmm... I'm using firefox 3.0.11. There's no problem with Internet Explorer from XP SP 2... but i ~never~ use IE :

The problem should now be fixed and your page seems to work properly.

The problem was caused by the code I use on main interface (there I autoscroll moves while keeping the board in the fixed position), which by (my) mistake was also activated for the embedded board.

PS There were no problems in Internet Explorer because autoscrolling misbehaved there so I disabled it completely for this browser.

Thanks. Love your page. I saw you could use the "Fantasy" chess pieces , but couldn't find a list of alternative pieces / colours anywhere ?

Visit the replay configuration screen.

This lets you configure pieces and board shown on "main" game page, but you can peek there to see which values are available.

I can add something else if there is demand

Just trying to input a comment (here http://mekk.waw.pl/mk/watchbot/game/2200635 ), and using the arrow keys in the input form, they still progress the chess game forward/back (Firefox 3.5.5). I think the numeric keys are affected too.

#7 Steven (Homepage) on 2009-11-29 07:40 (Reply)

In general arrows should work so as they make navigating game easier, but I agree that while comment box is active, they should be disabled.

Will take a look at it (unfortunately not necessarily soon).

I believe that the problem is now solved, and while you are editing the comment, arrow keys do not navigate through the game

Yes, on my web page everythings fine :) Still a niggle here though: http://mekk.waw.pl/mk/watchbot/game/2177066 Click on a move, and move is scrolled to top of screen. firefox 3.0.10. Thanks

#7.1.1.1 Steven on 2010-03-09 07:42 (Reply)

This is done on purpose - the idea is that the current move should always be visible. The reasons are visible better if you take some commented game, thanks to this scrolling you always see the comments made after this very move.

Does there exist some scenario in which it hurts the experience?

Hello Mekk..! I wonder if the embed code can be used on Joomla webpage. If possible, how could we do that? Thx for your help.. Regards.. Sam..

#8 Sam (Homepage) on 2010-03-10 14:30 (Reply)

I have never used Joomla, so I guess you should rather ask the question like How can I embed a piece of HTML inside the page on some Joomla forum

PS Friendly Google took me to mod HTML
